Kansas is famous for..?

The Wizard of Oz of course!

Made these cookies by request for an army wife, who's neighbors are being relocated to Kansas.

She's throwing a big going away party for the whole family and wanted something special to tell them goodbye.
And what better way to send someone off to Kansas than with these beautiful cookies?
Had to have the tornado :)

I love how these turned out. A little bit Dorothy, without going overboard.

And the iconic yellow brick road. You can't get to the Emerald city any other way!

Cookie Bouquet

For an administrative assistant. A great idea to show how much we appreciate them.

Some roses...

Some coffee and coffee beans...

Throw 'em all together and you get a lovely bouquet for your awesome administrative assistant!

Or your mother (mothers days is coming up!) or for a friend, just because :)

Just because, everyone loves cookies :)

Coconut M&M's

Make yummy cookies :)

I love coconut. Anything with coconut. It's delicious! So when I saw these I had to try them.

Of course I didn't read the fine print (I rarely do). So I was expecting them to be mini almond joys! Little candy coated, chocolate covered gooey coconut balls. Well, not so much, but they really do taste like coconut!

Coconut M&M Cookies
recipe adapted from here.

Ingredients:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar (recipe called for 1/2 cup, but I added sweetened coconut)
1 cup butter (because butter is better :))
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 bag coconut M&M's (because I only had 1/2 left... I mean because I bought it that way :))
1/2-1 cup sweetened flaked coconut, depending on how much YOU like

Directions:

In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until smooth. Scraping sides with a rubber spatula.
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the butter mixture until smooth.
Add in coconut until just blended.
Add M&M's last and mix with a spoon so as not to break them.
Roll into TBSP size balls and flatten slightly. Place onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 8-11 minutes depending on size and desired texture. I like mine a little soft in the middle but golden on the bottom and sides.

Enjoy!

Shy Bunny Cookies

There are lots and lots of bunnies. Especially around Easter. But these ones have won my heart.

Love those little "shy" bunny bums :)

They were so shy, I almost didn't get a picture. Or maybe that was my fault :)

A late in posting, but still cute.

Easter Cookies

Made lots of little bunny faces, mini eggs, tulips, chicks and rabbits!

Easter is almost here! Can't wait to find the baskets :)

Love those little bunny faces, with their cute cheeks!

Lots of bunnies this year!

And the little chicks are adorable too! Added eyes to these bunnies and chicks with edible marker.

I love all the pretty pastel colors of Easter! Although the eggs look a little more like beach balls too me :)

Enjoy!

Tulip Festival

Made these to celebrate the Tulip festival that's happening now here in western WA. Tulips are my favorite flowers!

Made plenty of them, so I used some for a few Easter platters :)

Flava-flav GIVEAWAY!

I love making cookies. I love baking, I love cooking, I love being in the kitchen, period. So many wonderful adventures take place in my kitchen! Sometime they end well, sometimes they don't... but those don't are fewer are farther between when you have the right tools to work with!

I have several tools that I can't live without! Well I could, but it would be a sad and difficult existence :)

I'll go into detail in another blog about some of my baking equipment, but today I am talking specifically about supplies.
I love Lorann Bakery Emulsions! No other extracts or flavor additives give the flavor that these little pretties do!

I use them in all my baked goods, cookies and cakes and cupcakes and even frosting.

The flavor is amazing and they smell so wonderful! They are a little pricier than most extracts, but if you're going to add flavor it should be good quality!

These are some of my favorites!

If you haven't tried them yet, you should!

Check out the product website here. There are several place to order them online, including Amazon.
I like to pick mine up at my local bakery supply shop here in Seattle. The lady that runs the place is a doll! Always helpful and happy.

I ran out of Almond last week, so when I wanted to make my mini doughnuts yesterday and needed some I ran to the shop and picked up a new bottle, and a few for YOU!

Mini Birthday Cake Doughnuts

I love my mini doughnut pan! It's bakes up yummy, soft cakey doughnuts. They're mini so I can eat a couple and they're baked so I don't feel to bad about eating more than a couple :)
